Have you heard the phrase, there is no I in team? This cannot be further from the truth when it involves your business. Every successful business owner has a great team of skilled and talented individuals working alongside him or her. Without the efforts, hard work and determination of each team member, most successful owners will not be able to achieve their high levels of success. As such, it is prudent that you assemble the right team for your business.
Do not, I repeat, do not take this step lightly. Assembling your right team is very, very important and can be likened to choosing the right contractors to build a structure. Choose the wrong contractors and they will do a terrible job in building the structure which can eventually lead it to collapse.
The same concept applies when choosing the members of your team. Choose the wrong people and they will do a terrible job in assisting you which will eventually lead to your failure. So ensure that you first get the right people on board and get the wrong people off board. To choose the right people, you must at least ensure they possess the following attributes which will be explained in the next few paragraphs.
Firstly, your team members must have similar desires, goals and visions as you, and a passion to make money while working on something that all of you enjoy. Next, each and everyone of them must be able to ‘read’ their own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of their partners. In addition, good team members will be willing to contribute ideas and have some creativity and problem solving skills. They should be capable of debating vigorously in search of best answers but rally unanimously when a decision is made.
Outstanding and self motivated team members will be able to take effective actions that best optimize time, money and resources and be open to changes and enhancements when carrying out processes. They do not see failure as the end of the road, rather as signals to improve and steer them towards achieving success. Most importantly, the best team members are able to realise that making the business successful and gaining wealth is not an overnight process, and that it takes consistency and purpose.
With the right people on board, you can easily know where you want to go and you don’t have to waste time, money and energy trying to motivate people who don’t want to be motivated. You will be able to put the best people on the biggest opportunities, not the biggest problems. You will definitely have a clearer vision of where you want to go with the right people on board and also a clear pathway as well as a clear vehicle to go there.
